The Management Publication of the Year 2024 longlist announced

5th September 2024

London - The 2024 longlist for the Management Publication of the Year, showcasing a remarkable breadth of impactful work addressing the critical business and economic challenges of our time, was announced yesterday at the British Academy of Management International Conference.

This new nationwide prize, a collaboration between the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the British Academy of Management (BAM), and the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), aims to shine a spotlight on the cutting-edge research and innovative thinking transforming the UK business landscape.

The diverse 19-title longlist has been selected across the award’s three categories - Sustainable Futures, SME Growth and Social Enterprise and Innovation. The longlist features a rich tapestry of impactful work, from a gripping book on leadership crises to a podcast series unpacking entrepreneurial innovation. Readers will discover thought-provoking explorations, including men as allies for gender equality, the daunting reality facing future generations entering the workforce, and the role of AI in public health.

The judging panel, comprising experienced members and practitioners from the British Academy of Management and academic experts in each of the three categories, evaluated the submissions based on their display of originality, significance and rigour, and potential to positively impact business, the third sector and policy practitioners.

Professor Katy Mason, President of the British Academy of Management and member of the judging panel, said:

“Business and management research is increasingly being picked up and used by industry leaders, SMEs, entrepreneurs, public sector leaders, and policymakers, as leaders seek to shift the way we organise our economy, society, and everyday life in ways that are much more inclusive and sustainable.

“The Management Publication of the Year Award represents an excellent opportunity to celebrate and platform some of this important work, and by including multimedia formats, we are not only opening up academic work to much broader audiences, but we are also showcasing different models of collaboration between industry, the public sector, and business and management researchers.”

A short-list of nominations will be announced at the Chartered Association of Business Schools conference on 4th November.

The winner of the Management Publication of the Year 2024 awards will be announced at an exclusive ceremony at the British Library in early 2025. For more information on the awards and the full longlist, please visit the CMI website.
